THE WARATAHS SUMMER RUGBY!

SUMMER RUGBY FOR YOUNG KIDS!

The school holidays are over and now the fun begins for young girls and boys who would like a bit of outdoor activity during the summer months while learning rugby skills at the same time.

The Waratahs Junior Rugby Union Club will be running Rugby Fun sessions for girls and boys at Waratah Oval on the second Friday of each month during summer.

Club President, Chris Grieve, said the ‘Come Try Rugby’ initiative was aimed at providing a fun activity for children while learning rugby skills and meeting new friends.

‘The club wants to keep in contact with its existing players during summer but also wants to provide the opportunity for children to have a new experience while having a good time in an outdoor setting,” said Chris.

The first of the Rugby Fun sessions will be this coming Friday, full details being:

When: Second Friday of each summer month:

  • 13 October, 2017
  • 10 November, 2017
  • 8 December, 2017
  • 12 January, 2018
  • 9 February, 2018

Time: 6pm (for 30 – 45 minutes)

Where: Waratah Oval, Harris Street, Waratah

Ages: 6 years and upwards (girls and boys)

Chris said sessions will be conducted by accredited trainers and that parents are invited to attend. Refreshments available at the ground.

“Our aim is to provide a series of rugby fun sessions during summer that will lead to our 2018 pre-season programme where we plan to field teams from Under 7s to Under 9s,” he said.

“Parents are invited to come along with their children on the Friday evenings as Rugby is a family game and discussion is invited about the code and what their children will learn about playing rugby as a team sport.”
